Looking For Advice On Technology Blogs? Check Out These Great Ideas!

Blogs seem to be run by everyone, from your cousin to corporate behemoths to celebrities. Everyone of every demographic has something to share with the rest of the world! Standing out from the crowd by creating and maintaining an interesting, relevant blog can be difficult. Read on to find some simple ideas which will work for any blog, no matter what reason it was created.

Make it easy for readers to share your blog posts using their favorite social media outlets. These days, this can be done through standardized buttons that lets readers automatically syndicate all or part of your post’s content to their favorite social media services and comment on them in real time.

Use tags correctly. Tags let you categorize your posts into different categories, which can then be searched by readers. Each of your posts should have two or three tags. Make sure you use the same words for similar posts (don’t have a “bikes” and “biking” tag, for example), and don’t give posts too many tags, as this tends to clutter up categories.

Be sure that you are taking adequate care of yourself. You want your writing to be fresh and exciting, and it is hard to think well when you are overly tired or hungry. While you are working, take breaks often to give your brain a chance to rest, and make sure that you are eating throughout the day.

Incorporate SEO into your blog. You need to keep your blog high in the page ranks so that people can find it. Use key phrases which match your content and use them throughout your blog, in titles, ALT tags and the content itself.

Simplify your blog by avoiding inordinate amounts of multi-media. While pictures and the occasional video are definitely a nice touch, your words are more important than your ability to place obnoxious GIFs or pictures on your blog posts. Your readers will appreciate having balance in your posts and enjoying both written word and visual elements.

An important part of any blog is to feature the latest posts at the top of your homepage. With so many blogs abandoned or out-of-date, it’s important to let readers know that yours is current. This way, your readers will have fresh, new posts to read and you will get the best exposure for your newest content.

Incorporate sharing widgets for social media sites. As you strive to build your readership base, social networking is a perfect way for your readers to share with others. By offering opportunities for your blog to be broadcast to friends and family, you will drive your follower base up drastically.

If you can, you should make use of a custom WordPress theme. In today’s time, readers have the ability to recognize themes that are very generic in nature. Using these generic themes are just fine as long as you change up your header design so that it is more unique.

Learn everything you can about topics related to your blog. The more quality information you can share, the better your blog will be. The greater your knowledge, the more readers will view you as an expert in the field. This will make the reader more likely to share links to your blog with their contacts.

Do not start a blog entry unless you are sure that you can sit down and finish the entire thing. You want to let your mind stay on task, and if you have to stop for any reason, it will be very hard to pick up where you left off.

Give your readers the opportunity to subscribe to your blog and your RSS feed. When people can have good content delivered hot and fresh, you increase your value to them ten fold. Keep the subscribe button in an easy to find place and deliver good content regularly to dissuade readers from discontinuing.

Do not write your blogs about random things. Writing like this is not good for readership. You should try to stay as consistent as possible and you should try to find a topic that you are particularly interested in. This will ensure that you get the most attention to your articles.

As previously mentioned, blogging has become rampant on the Internet. There are so many categories and reasons for blogs these days. A determined blogger should be able to find a niche in which they can succeed. The suggestions you have just read can help you create quality content, whatever your niche.

The deer seemed as shocked and surprised by the unfolding events as owner Alan Prachar and his daughter, who had closed up their yogurt shop for the night on Oct. 14 and were finishing off some final tasks when the action began. Also World’s tallest water slide to open in Kansas, will be wedgie-free “We heard this tremendous crash,” Prachar told a local CBS news station. Father and daughter can be seen in the video rushing through the swinging door from the kitchen, only to pull back — startled — when they see the deer. The deer galloped around a few times and in the process shredded some fabric covering a bench seating area. Soon the creature came to rest, seemingly exhausted by all the activity, right near the front door of Peachwave Yogurt in Holmdale, N.J. A friend of Prachar’s who works nearby put an end to the deer’s ordeal by calmly walking over to a door and opening it. Bambi sprang to its feet and galloped away, apparently unscathed. Guess the deer decided to check out the yogurt store but wasn’t thrilled by any of the options. Prachar said hed never seen deer around the store, but others said deer are sometimes seen in a nearby wooded area. In all, the deer caused about $5,000 in damage, Pracher said.

Postal Service, to name a few.Additionally, more than 200 organizations nationwide have joined America Express OPEN in support of Small BusinessSaturday. This year, small businesses are challenged dramatically as many of the nations largest retailers have revamped their holiday sales approach. A number of retail chains are offering a wider window of hours including opening on Thanksgiving Day, an observance previously viewed as sacrosanct. In fact, K-Mart announced that it would open its stores for 41 hours straight, beginning on Thanksgiving morning at6 am.Walmart is starting its BlackFriday deals at6pm on the holiday.Target, Sears, Old Navy, Toys “R” Us, Macy’s, J.C. Penney, Kohl’s, Dick’s Sporting Goods, and Best Buy will also open on Thanksgiving Day. These decisions raise questions in the marketplace. If consumers do indeed shop on the holiday, the retailers will claim that they are simply responding to the laws of supply and demand. If crowds are sparse, they likely will alter the decision for next year.If there is a mad rush of shoppers, look for the trend to continue, perhaps with even longer hours. Big companies have larger workforces to tap.Small businesses have a hard time competing. Its a difficult decision for the owner of a small company to require workers to come in on a holiday. For many small businesses, co-workers are like family.Thanksgiving Day is also a holiday that company owners themselves will use to relax and spend time with loved ones. BlackFridaybrings its own frenzy. The big retailers try to generate revenue from consumers up front with drastic price reductions.Small businesses many times cannot offer such deep discounts.Long lines, crazed shoppers, and, unfortunately, sometimes injuries have become part of the media-fueled shopping frenzy. I am a big supporter of Small BusinessSaturdayand the growing efforts to spend money with local businesses.Small businesses create two-thirds of all new jobs in the U.S. economy, strengthen communities and drive the economy. Naturally, we want to encourage shoppers to stop in for lunch or dinner while they are in town. What many people dont realize it that there is an important trickle-down effect in supporting merchants in the community, said Barry ODonovan, the owner of Kilkenny House Pub and Restaurant in Cranford, NJ, and a leader of his local Downtown Management Corporation. I have 22 employees. Most of them live in the area, pay taxes here, buy coffee and a bagel and maybe a newspaper on the way to work.Customers arent just supporting the small business owners, but also their friends and neighbors and the surrounding businesses that are all part of the local economy, ODonovan added. Many small firms have struggled of late. The government shutdown hurt many companies that saw reduced revenues in October that will never be recovered. Many lost access to working capital and expansion funding because of the closure of the SBA and the IRS for three weeks. If ever there was a time to support Small BusinessSaturday, it is this year. In my opinion, there is tremendous benefit in doing business with small companies every day.Its a practice we should continue well beyond Small BusinessSaturday . Will These Retailers Have Higher Online Sales This Holiday Season?

By Sharon Gaudin [ Holiday Gift Guide 2013: Gadgets, Gizmos and Gear ] “Over the past several years, each holiday season has seen the continuation of many online shopping trends that are not necessarily new but nevertheless shape the dynamics of the season,” Dreyer wrote in a blog post . “The holiday shopping period continues to kick off earlier and earlier — with an increasing number of retailers offering deals on and even before Thanksgiving Day — and Cyber Monday rises in prominence and promotional activity.” Online shopping should be strong enough this year to actually blur the lines between Black Friday, which is the day after Thanksgiving when people tend to flock to retail stores, and Cyber Monday, the Monday after Thanksgiving when people tend to make a lot of online purchases from their office computers. “Many U.S. consumers are going online for holiday deals on the biggest shopping day of the year for brick-and-mortar retailers,” a Nielsen report released Monday said. The Nielsen study showed that 51% of those surveyed plan to shop online on Black Friday instead of dealing with packed parking lots and throngs of grumpy shoppers at the mall. And 46% said they would be doing online shopping on Cyber Monday. According to comScore, though, people aren’t just sitting in front of their laptops or desktops to do their buying. A third of the average leading retailers’ monthly traffic now comes exclusively from mobile devices. Shoppers also are increasingly using their smartphones and tablets to “showroom,” which means they check out an item, like a bicycle or a sweater, in the store and then actually purchase it online. ComScore reported that 76% of the people it surveyed say they showroom “sometimes.” Sharon Gaudin covers the Internet and Web 2.0, emerging technologies, and desktop and laptop chips for Computerworld. “Start early because once Black Friday and Cyber Monday hits that’s when we begin to see some really amazing deals and especially they’re going to be online.” Compare, compare, compare “The beauty of shopping online is that comparison shopping is as easy as opening another tab in your browser,” says Almeida. She says it’s important to know when a deal is truly a deal, so scanning flyers early for items you’re planning to buy is a great idea. “One of the easiest things to do, especially if you’re shopping last minute, is to get lured into what you consider or what you’re told is a sale but may not actually be the best deal.” You might also have a hard time finding the item you want in store, where it’s hard to stock a full suite of products. Kerry Reynolds, head of consumer marketing for Paypal, notes this trend already has many retailers expecting (and directing) people to do more of their purchases online. Check discount sites Before purchasing anything online or in-store, do a quick check to see if there are coupons or discount codes available. “Even if you only save five dollars I mean great, that’s your coffee for the week,” says Self. Websites like RetailMeNot.ca , Save.ca and others offer discounts for savvy online shoppers. “Customize your searches so that you’re only getting coupons and information on specific deals that are of interest to you,” says Self. Your favourite stores might offer deals via email subscriptions, so it might be worth signing up ahead of time, adds Reynolds. Another way to save is by shopping through a shopping portal like AirMilesShops.ca , Shop.ca or Ebates.ca , so you’re getting rewards points and you can double dip savings with coupon codes.

(KFSN) — A well-known bicycle shop in Central Fresno is moving, and the old location is now closed. Steven’s Bicycles closed it’s doors at Palm and Shields after 58 years in business there. The shop is re-locating to a bigger store at Fig Garden and Brawley in Northwest Fresno. The owner says the shop will still provide the same service its customers have appreciated for more than a half a century. “People have told us stories about how they bought their first tricycle right next to the Barbies, then they just came and got ten speed and brought their kids and then their grand kids. We’ll still be there, we’re still the same shop,” said Tina Kutzback, Owner of Steven’s Bicycles. The new location is set to open on December first. Related Content

In fiscal year 2013, Home Depot has enjoyed a solid operating performance, with a top-line gain of 8.2% that benefited from strong comparable-store sales. The company’s profitability has increased at an even faster clip, up 23.1%, due to both rising average product prices and the positive effects of its store productivity initiatives. The net result has been significant operating cash flow, $6.0 billion in the current period, which has provided Home Depot with excess capital that it is returning to shareholders through large repurchases. Meanwhile, Lowe’s has generated a performance that is a virtual carbon copy of its larger competitor, reporting a top-line gain of 5.8% in fiscal year 2013 that was a function of higher comparable-store sales.Like Home Depot, Lowe’s is trying to form tighter bonds with its customers in all sales channels, as highlighted by its MyLowes website, which allows customers to build home profiles and have easy access to their purchasing history. The company is similarly producing prodigious operating cash flow, $3.9 billion in the current period, which it is also returning to shareholders through share repurchases. The bottom line Tile Shop is well-positioned in a highly profitable niche of the home-improvement business, but it shot itself in the foot with its internal control issues. Rock Ventures, the umbrella entity for billionaire businessman Dan Gilbert, founder and chair of Quicken Loans, announced Monday that it had hired ShoP to work jointly with Detroit-based Hamilton Anderson Associates (HAA) to conduct an intensive study of concepts for a new signature building on the site (most likely mixed-use commercial and residential). Given central downtown location in the heart of Woodward Avenue, the project promises to produce what could be a new postcard image for the Motor City. These two firms, known as premier urban catalysts, were chosen for their innovation and creativity, as well as their track record of committing to community engagement. We believe SHoP and Hamilton Anderson will join a long list of distinguished architects, including Yamasaki, Burnham, and Kahn, who have created landmark buildings in Detroit that stand the test of time, said Jeff Cohen, founder of Rock Companies, LLC, a member of the Rock Ventures family of companies. SHoP has designed dozens of signature projects, including the Barclays Center at Atlantic Yards in Brooklyn, New York, where the worlds tallest modular housing towers also designed by SHoPare currently under construction. Hamilton Anderson has worked on numerous Detroit projects including the Tech One Building at the TechTown Research and Technology Park at Wayne State University. “In visiting Detroit, we’ve experienced the zeal and sense of entrepreneurship that underpins a vibrant urban environment. Through our inclusive design process and engagement with academia, we look forward to becoming part of the local culture and conducting a dialogue about the future of downtown,” says William Sharples, SHoP principal. In the coming month, SHoP and HAA will meet with local stakeholders to discuss programming and design concepts.

The Tile Shop Opens New Retail Store in North Plainfield, N.J.; Fifth Store in New Jersey

News the franchise is set to move in to Portobello has prompted anger from residents who claim the firm famous for its foot-long sandwiches has not been given the go ahead to serve hot food. Builders have moved in to the High Street store and an advert on classified site Gumtree is offering permanent contracts for budding Sandwich Artists. The empty shop was formally a clothes shop and would require approval from city planning chiefs to sell hot food or provide seating. June Robertson, who runs Favers traditional sweet shop on the High Street, branded the move a disgrace. She said: Subway have just come bulldozing their way in there seems to be one rule for big businesses and another one for us. Theyre putting toilets in and ventilation, which would indicate theres going to be a seating area, but they dont have permission yet. People are really hacked off about the way they have gone about it, Im worried what they are doing to the building which is in a conservation area. Portobello is the kind of community you need to stay on the right side of or otherwise youre doomed. It is understood on Friday, some residents were refusing to allow builders through a communal stair door to the rear of the building, which is within a conservation area. A class three permit would not be required if only cold food was sold on the premises. But many of Subways most popular snacks such as the Meatball Marinara are hot. Portobello resident Bob Jefferson said: Nobody wants to see the shop empty, and it was in a bit of a mess for quite a while, but I dont think they should have barged their way in to the High Street if they dont have the necessary planning permission. Subway could not be reached for comment.

Although Butcher and the guard didn’t resist, the attackers shot them, then removed the video from the shop’s surveillance system. The Times has inquired regarding the status of other suspects. District attorney’s officials said they have no information on them and police officials didn’t respond. The slaying came hours before yet another killing at a pot dispensary five miles away. Ila Ali Packman, 39, was found dead from an apparent stabbing inside Hollywood Holistic II on North El Centro Avenue. The murders were unrelated but captivated fear among medical marijuana advocates. Steven Butcher explained the trial was burdensome for his family. ‘It was tough being within the same space as these people, taking a look at them,’ he explained. While the EDG does a good job supporting businesses get going and grow and the Chamber addresses community activities and selling the community well, ‘no-one was really doing something with the businesses to acquire people within their doors,’ specially clients from out of town, Walker said. That is where the CCBA has stepped in, having a role once managed by the Retail Committee of the Chamber, and years ago, by the Key Street program. ‘We want to produce our companies fascinating and want you to come out and be a section of them,’ she said. Why Tile Shop Hldgs, Inc. Shares Dropped and Then Popped

The group laid out its argument in a 58-page report . In its response issued yesterday afternoon, Tile Shop said it “adamantly denies these allegations and believes that the financial statements are properly stated and its business practices are appropriate.” The Tile Shop also denied individual charges, saying that suppliers are not paid with stock transfers, and that it’s suspended its relationship with Beijing Pingxiu, the principal supplier implicated in Gotham City’s report. Now what: Trading of Tile Shop shares was suspended yesterday afternoon, and finally began moving back up around 10 this morning. Some of the more legitimate financial firms to come to its defense were Credit Suisse, Wedbush, and Piper Jaffray. Piper Jaffray said it believed the short seller misunderstood Beijing Pingxiu’s role in the company and the nature of the supply chain, while Credit Suisse also said it believed the allegations were inaccurate. Even after the recovery today, Tile Shop’s shares are still down 30% from before Gotham City’s assault. As for Gotham City itself, the firm posts little information on its website , and has issued two previous reports, both from this year and both on Ebix, whose stock cratered this summer and has not recovered. Clearly, this story is not over, but if the allegations prove to be false, there is considerable upside for Tile Shop as analyst expect a near-30% top-line growth next year. What makes a building ‘iconic’? Architecture inspired by spiders Mexico’s shimmering shrine to art In the sanctuary, the walls and ceiling are artfully askew, “so your eye and mind can wander,” said Bell, the architect. The bema, the podium at the center of the room, is positioned to be wheelchair accessible and keep all members level. High windows obscure the parking lot surrounding the building but reveal a border of trees. Skylights were placed to highlight the ark, the closet that holds the synagogue’s Torah scrolls, as well as its “infinite” glass door and the Hebrew alphabet etched into it. The sanctuary was engineered to maximize acoustic performance. Services at Or Hadash often include music, and congregants speak to each other from across the room. In their old space, low drop ceilings meant they struggled to hear one another. Now, their voices are loud and clear. “It’s really something amazing,” Wachter said.

“Chinese people love to shop,” said Eric Wong, managing director for Greater China at Possible, an e-commerce strategy company, in Shanghai. “If you have the right excuse and the right occasion, they will spend money. One of the tactics to get people to buy is to create a more festive occasion.” The one-day shopping craze highlights the frenetic growth of e-commerce in China. The country is set to overtake the United States this year as the largest online shopping market in the world, according to Forrester Research. Chinese consumers are predicted to spend $290 billion at online retail sites this year, compared with $260 billion for their United States counterparts. Bain, a consulting firm, expects online shopping in China to grow at an annual rate of 32 percent from this year through 2015. That is a slowdown from the 71 percent rate recorded from 2009 through 2012, but still well above the 13 percent average rate expected for 2009 through 2015 in the United States. In 2015, the firm forecasts, e-commerce will total 3.3 trillion renminbi in China. “Chinese consumers are bargain-hunters, and that is what is driving the success of 11/11,” said Serge Hoffmann, a partner at Bain in Hong Kong.

Snapdeal is hoping to change all that. The company was founded in 2010 by former high school classmates Kunal Bahl, who had just left a job with Microsoft, and Rohit Bansal, who was withCapitalOne. The two launched the company as a daily coupons siteBahls idea after relying on coupons to save money while at universityand later overhauled it into an online platform connecting buyers to sellers in 2011. It recently received funding from eBay .Trustthis is the number one thing we focus on as a company given the nascent nature of e-commerce in India, Bahl tells Quartz. The company aspires to be the Alibaba of India after the Chinese e-commerce giant best known for its marketplace Taobao. The comparison is apt for a few reasons. Alibaba similarly had to overcome mistrust among Chinese customers accustomed to swindling, counterfeit goods, and unreliable service. In India, shoppers have those same concerns but are also wary of using debit and credit cards onlineits estimated that more than 50% (pdf) of all online transactions in India are paid with cash on delivery. Bahls firm is trying to build confidence in online retail through features such as screening and rating of all of its sellers, allowing only new items to be sold on its site. It also gives customers a seven-day window to return items that dont meet their expectations. Like Alibabas escrow system, Alipay ,which was critical for Alibabas success in China, money from the buyers goes to Snapdeal first and only reaches sellers once the buyer is happy with the purchase.Bahl says the company is also working on a payment system that gives customers a kind of e-commerce profile so that they only have to input their payment information once, lowering chances of consumer fraud. So far, the strategy appears to be working.

Shutdown, Obamacare driving holiday shopping online?

You might imagine that the idea of a malfunctioning Web site driving people online might be a touch twisted. But 77 percent in the survey pleaded for all online shopping companies to test their sites thoroughly — or at least declare when they were last tested — before the holiday storm strikes. (Well, naturally.) There might seem something woolly, though, about using politics as an excuse for online shopping. Well, these respondents admitted that the reason they will shop online is that they believe there are more and better deals there. Nineteen percent, though, just don’t want to spend their money on gas. Few companies have done much to make physical retail environments more exciting. Some use floral scents, smiling faces, and fetching polo shirts, but going shopping just isn’t what it used to be. Still, I wasn’t convinced that the populace has such great political awareness. Harris Interactive stared me down. The company’s SVP of Poll and Public Relations, Regina Corso, told me: “It’s a savings issue.

Online shopping on the rise in Canada: Ebates.ca releases Canadian online shopping trends in time for Black Friday

According to research by Ebates.ca, Canada’s leading cash back shopping website, 77 per cent of Canadians say they have made a purchase from a website in the past year and 32 per cent report spending more online in the past twelve months than in previous years. Additionally, one-third (32%) say they prefer shopping online as opposed to in-store, primarily because of online exclusive items and convenience. This increasing interest in online shopping comes as no surprise to Adrienne Down Coulson, General Manager, Ebates.ca, which is marking its first anniversary in Canada. “Canadians are embracing online shopping and cash back shopping in particular. This is a logical shift in consumer shopping behaviour given that many retailers are expanding their online offerings; just like Walmart.ca’s recent expansion into online groceries. Over 500,000 Canadians have joined Ebates and our increasing membership base has helped drive over $20 million in sales to partner retailers such as Indigo.ca, Home Depot, Lenovo and Walmart.ca” says Down Coulson. Working closely with partner retailers to bring members deep discounts also gives Ebates.ca a sneak peak at seasonal trends. From a review of current research from retailer partner Shop.ca, Ebates.ca predicts electronics, especially video games and consoles like PlayStation4, small appliances, and baby products to drive holiday sales. Down Coulson gives these tips to holiday shoppers: Shop from the comfort of your home on Black Friday and Cyber Monday: It’s no longer necessary to cross the border to find deals on Black Friday and Cyber Monday as many retailers offer the same or comparable deals online. Maximize your shopping budget: Use online coupons, promotion codes and a cash back shopping website to help you save even more. For example, shop through Ebates.ca on Black Friday and Cyber Monday to take advantage of double cash back offers from over 200 stores.

If you see the Lock, youre good to shop. How can you pay?A good rule of thumb in online purchasing is that the number of ways you can pay is directly related to how legitimate the company is. If the company accepts PayPal, Google Checkout, and Amazon Payments along with credit cards, then theyre probably legit. Do not pay with your debit card youll have less protection if the info is stolen and used for purchases than you will with most credit cards. Check the company out on Facebook and Twitter.Nowadays every company worth its salt has some kind of social media presence. It is virtually mandatory. A company that isnt on Twitter and doesnt have a Facebook page needs to be looked into a little bit more before you buy from them. Keep your anti-virus program up-to-date.Even if you dont buy anything from a shady website, there are ways for nefarious folks to get their hands on your financial information, so its always a good idea to make sure your computer is well protected against viruses and malware. Stay in your pajamas. When youre buying online, its a good plan to do your purchasing from home. If you use a public computer and forget to logout, the next user has access to all your information.

Gotham City Research said in a report on Thursday that Tile Shop used captive suppliers such as Beijing Pingxiu to overstate inventories, understate cost of sales and overstate gross profits. ( link.reuters.com/qez64v ) The short seller claimed that Beijing Pingxiu was run by Fumitake Nishi, who it said was the brother-in-law of Tile Shop Chief Executive Robert Rucker. Tile Shop, later in the day, suspended its relationship with Beijing Pingxiu, saying it was not aware of ownership changes at the supplier. The company denied misreporting financial statements. The Gotham City report said that Beijing Pingxiu, Tile Shop’s largest supplier, sold to the retailer at zero cost, allowing the company to achieve higher gross margins. Tile Shop shares were halted at $12.95 on the Nasdaq ahead of the company’s statement and did not resume trading before close. The shares recouped some of their losses after the bell to trade at $14.05. About $400 million of the company’s market value was wiped out during regular trading. The shares had risen 55 percent over the last year. Gotham City said it did not value the company’s shares at more than $1.54-$3.34 per share. Were very happy when one of our dresses goes out of town so we don’t have to keep track of it anymore. But it is very important. We would never want someone else showing up in the same outfit that someone bought from us and felt that it was special and that it was just for them, she said. Personal touch By and large, that feeling of special-ness is precisely what the Sophia Lustig Shop is selling. And those who shop there pay a premium for that experience. Womens sportswear jackets, for example, start at about $200 but can cost up to $1,000. A cocktail dress starts at $200 but can cost up to $2,000. Customers, however, rarely object because they believe they receive more than clothing: The store functions primarily as a personal shopper, a service that used to be commonplace but now is rare. In its September issue, Harpers Bazaar magazine listed the Sophia Lustig shop as one of the 82 best women’s specialty shops in the nation. The magazine said it selected the stores based on the variety and quality of their lines and their customer service.

Organizations which present film awards should shop at “The Dallas Buyers Club.” When Ron Woodroof is first viewed in the film he is a hard living man, working as an electrician and hanging around the rodeo circuit. He is a ladies’ man who also indulges in some drugs from time to time. Thin to the extreme he avoids doctors until he is involved in an accident at work and ends up at the local hospital. There Dr. Seward (Denis O’Hare) and Dr. Saks (Jennifer Garner) tell him he has the HIV virus. At first he refuses to accept the diagnosis, but later comes to terms with it. He seeks treatment through the use of the drug AZT but finds it has a negative effect on his body. Later through his own research he learns of other drugs that have not been FDA approved. He goes to Mexico and buys alternative drugs there. When he realizes he can buy in bulk and sell to other people with the same kind of problem he has, he does so.

Blumm Sean Lowe and Catherine Giudici Beverly News They’ve already sent out save-the-date cards , so now it’s time for The Bachelor couple Sean Lowe and Catherine Giudici to ramp up the wedding planning. The pair, who are tying the knot in a live TV special on ABC on Jan. 26 next year, were spotted looking at flower arrangements in L.A. on Thursday. Lowe, who celebrated turning 30 with a party in Las Vegas on Friday night, and his fiancee were trailed by a camera crew while looking at table settings, and they also checked out a bridal bouquet in shades of pale pink. But the wedding planning didnt end there. A day after scoping out blooms, Lowe Tweeted that he and Giudici, 27, to whom he proposed in Thailand on The Bachelor finale earlier this year, were off to Bloomingdale’s to register. For Lowe, who’s sticking to his traditional values and abstaining from sex with Giudici until they’re married, their wedding day can’t come soon enough. “I’m a guy,” he told PEOPLE in March. “If it were up to me, I’d go to the courthouse tomorrow and it would be a done deal!” Be among the first to know who will be crowned PEOPLEs Sexiest Man Alive this year!

“Photographs are not sufficient to portray the extraordinary hustle and bustle of the Swap Shop,” Rogow wrote in court records. “And to be able to fairly determine the reasonableness of the defendants’ [anti-counterfeiting] efforts in the context of the cacophony of the Swap Shop, a view of the Swap Shop is critical to a fair trial on these issues.” The indoor/outdoor flea market covers more than 88 acres, and it hosts more than 2,000 vendors and 10,000 to 15,000 shoppers on the weekends, Henn said. In court filings, Coach said that it filed suit against the Swap Shop after more than a year of warnings, visits by undercover investigators, lawyers’ letters and even raids by federal and local law enforcement agents trying to clear fake merchandise from the bazaar. If Henn loses, it could be a very expensive experience. If Coach proves its argument to the jury, Henn’s business could be held liable for damages of between $1,000 and $200,000 per counterfeit mark per type of goods sold or offered for sale. If Coach proves there was “willful” use of the counterfeit mark, damages would rise to $1,000 to $2 million per mark. To get an idea of how quickly damages can add up, experts say each purse can bear several counterfeit marks from the ‘C’ design pattern on a purse, to the Coach ‘hang tag’ that’s attached to the handle, the Coach ‘patch’ inside the purse and even the word ‘Coach’ on the label. In a similar federal suit in Tennessee, a jury awarded Coach more than $5 million in damages against the operator of The Southwest Flea Market last year after finding him liable for sales of counterfeit products at his market. Jurors awarded $240,000 in damages per mark for 21 trademarks they found the owner had willfully infringed.

Some people have never got any official education relating to floral designs . This means that people who have good business experiences or business sense can do floral business even if they dont have decent floral arranging skills. Actually there are many successful business owners who engage in running a floral shop with no educational background for flower arrangements. If their operation is cut flowers sales oriented, business owners with good business sense COULD be successful in operating the floral shop.

In 2013, Pouring Pounds entered the Indian market as Cashkaro and has raised $750,000. Fundraising is never easy, but I think investors could see that a cash back model that is hugely successful in the West is bound to do well in India too and hence we closed our round really quick, Swati said adding that Cashkaro.com is primarily a B2C business with retailers and shoppers being the major stakeholders. For Cashkaro, it makes sense to tie up with retailers on a commission basis, which is lower than what they pay on Google to acquire a customer. Cashkaro does all the marketing activities for these retailers. The company has offices in Gurgaon and Chennai with about 20 employees. It plans to expand globally. Born and brought up in Ambala, a small town north of Delhi, Swati got a scholarship to study in Singapore, and then went to London School of Economics, where she met Rohan. She worked with Goldman Sachs in the Investment Banking Division for five years after which she quit to become an entrepreneur, a trait that she got in her genes. Both our fathers are successful entrepreneurs, and our families were supportive though being family they were also scared that in recessionary environment we are leaving safe and well-paying jobs to start on our own. Not easy but sometimes you have to take risks in life and go with your gut, Swati feels. Tough task On challenges, Swati said that she faced difficulty in getting good talent and resources for her company.

Sophia Lustig Shop has outlasted many downtown shops and other venues since it began on Madison Avenue in 1937. It is now located on 10th Street.

The next one is scheduled for Dec. 14. The Swap Shop reopened about a year ago, offering a much-improved operation. The Committee took its own recycling message seriously, reusing an old Hingham Football shed and making signs from recycled materials. There is a propane heater for the really cold days, Black said. Also, the Swap Shop closes on the day of a snowstorm as well as the next day to keep volunteers off the roads during the storm and to allow the DPW to clear snow from around the Swap Shop and adjacent parking areas. The Swap Shop helps reduce the amount of waste that ends up in the trash compactors and bulky waste containers, yielding significant savings in disposal costs. As one Committee member said when it first opened, the greatly improved swap area provides enhanced opportunities for turning trash into treasure. Recycling update With regard to recycling, the transfer station now accepts waxy juice, milk, and other cartons for recycling. (See related sidebar.) The current recycling rate is 26.5 percent, so there is plenty of room for improvement.

We wanted to come alongside them and help. The church received donations before dinner and another offering after the concert. After the first donations were counted the church had raised $400, with the nights total reaching more than $900. Shop With A Hero is an annual event that pairs less fortunate children with public safety officers for a Christmas shopping trip. Last year 318 children, chosen by school counselors and teachers, were allotted $150 each to spend at Wal-Mart. The program requires $100 to be spent on clothing but the child can spend the remainder of the money however he or she chooses. Each year the event has grown in size and donations; in 2012 the program formerly called Shop With A Cop drew $62,000 in donations. In comparison, 88 children were invited to attend and $13,000 was raised during the 2011 holiday season. Euharlee Police Chief Terry Harget has been involved in the program for the past few years. It is an amazing day. It is great to see the expression and joy in the kids eyes. I remember the atmosphere last year while we were in the store; everyone was smiling and polite.

One-day Online Shopping Spree In China Sets A New Record

A RetailMeNot and Ipsos survey concludes 73 per cent of Canadians plan to shop online this holiday season, with 10 per cent of them doing most of their shopping digitally. Statistics Canada figures from 2012 highlight strong growth in online shopping, with Canadians spending C$18.9 billion online, up 24 per cent over 2010. More Canadians 56 per cent, up five percentage points ordered products and services in 2012 than in 2010 As the online shopping audience grows, the pool of potential victims grows, too. Increasingly sophisticated scammers are taking advantage of shoppers who are often too busy to protect themselves. Lax security on PCs, tablets and smartphones coupled with increasing amounts of personal and financial data stored on them makes online shoppers the new target of opportunity in this season of supposed giving. Consumer exposure doesnt just come from online scammers, says Doug Stephens, retail expert, speaker and author of The Retail Revival . Shifty online retailers can also darken the season. Online shopping has come a long way in a mere 20 years, but there are still risks, Stephens said. That’s not to say there aren’t some risks inherent in brick and mortar retail as well, but at least I can physically verify the retailers existence, see their inventory and get a sense of the general appearance of their operation.

More Canadians turn online for holiday shopping

Finally, they added a cozy touch: his and hers cotton slippers for the winter. In all, Ms. Yuan spent 1,500 renminbi, or nearly $250, before calling it a night. That, Ms. Yuan said, represented about half a month’s living costs for her. “We love window-shopping in the local department store,” Ms. Yuan said. “But we have never spent so much money in one day. Never!” Ms.

Watch out for holiday online shopping scams

At first glance, this workplace resembles any Silicon Valley startup. There’s just one exception: Target’s trademark red bulls-eye at the entrance. Target, Kohl’s and home-shopping network QVC are among a half dozen retailers opening technology test labs in the San Francisco area to do things like improve their websites and create mobile shopping apps. They’re setting up shop in modern spaces and competing for top Silicon Valley talent to replicate the creativity, culture and nimbleness of online startups. The goal is to stay on top of tech trends and better compete with online rivals like Amazon.com that attract shoppers with convenient ordering and cheap prices. The labs are a shift for retailers, which like many older industries, have been slow to adapt to rapidly changing technology. But retailers say the labs are essential to satisfy shoppers who more often are buying on their tablets, PCs and mobile devices. “Consumers expect immediate gratification,” says Lori Schafer, executive adviser at SAS Institute, which creates software for retailers. As a result, she says retailers need to develop technology in weeks, instead of months or years.

Retailers take on Silicon Valley as online shopping grows

And so are schemes that promise extra spending money but deliver debt. Here is a heads-up on some new rackets, plus some that appeared last holiday season and may be expected to return in some form. If you get a text message offering you a free $1,000 gift card at a big box store, delete it, says Scambook.com . The online complaint-resolution site also warns against fake “leaked” Black Friday advertisements that offer downloadable coupons, which are actually meant to get you to give personal information or result in malware on your computer. Look out for tweets with links to e-cards and video clips; they may appear to be from friends and family members, but scamsters use these devices to infect your computer and steal your identity. And be aware that some search engine results may encourage you to install an “Internet Security Suite” that is itself a virus. Scambook.com advises you to shop with a prepaid card; look online for customer reviews of unfamiliar sites before ordering (try searching the name of the store plus “review” to see the Better Business Bureau’s grade and complaints at bbb.org ); avoid using passwords connected to your other accounts when setting up a new online account for shopping and use a secure, up-to-date Internet browser along with your own computer’s firewall and anti-virus software. And even if you believe in Santa, have a healthy level of doubt about links that are sent to you, even if they appear to be from places you know. More holiday shopping advice from the December 2013 issue of Consumer Reports: If you’re at the point in your online purchase that you’re giving your credit-card info, make sure the retailer’s Web address starts with https (the “s” means it’s a secured connection); also, look for the padlock icon on your browser’s status bar, the magazine says.

Shutdown, Obamacare driving holiday shopping online?

It appears that Canadians are watching their dollars this season, with two thirds of shoppers setting a budget before going holiday shopping. On average, Canadians will spend about 30 per cent of that budget online. Overall Canadian holiday retail sales are expected to increase 3.5 per cent over last year, supported mainly by online transactions, according to EYs recent Americas Retail Quarterly Report. The EY report found that 70 per cent of Canadians research products online before buying. Of those who dig around online, 58 per cent say they then go on to buy something. Nearly 28 per cent of Canadians prefer to shop online than go to the mall in general, and online sales will make up 19 per cent of holiday budgets, Deloittes 2013 Holiday Retail Outlook survey found. Interestingly, higher-income earners use the Internet more for research and flash sales than lower income groups, according to Deloitte.Almost half of Canadians will use social media to check prices, while nearly 24 per cent say they would like to use their smartphones to check prices while shopping. Rising smartphone ownership is taking more consumers down the digital shopping route, too, the Deloitte survey found. Overall, smart-phone ownership has increased to 61 per cent of respondents from 42 per cent two years ago. Women, younger generations, and households earning less than $100,000 annually showed the most significant jumps in smart-phone ownership.

And that’s when Americans are doing one of the things they hate the most — paying off their holiday debt,” she said. More Technically Incorrect This might have implications for Black Friday and the traditional holiday fisticuffs at Walmart . Corso told me: “If they used to spend Black Friday and/or that weekend driving from mall to mall, this year they definitely might limit that. And, it’s easier to comparison shop and find the best deals online, so of course they may do that as well where they wouldn’t have in previous years.” So what about Obamacare? It’s being blamed for everything from unemployment to the unrest at the Miami Dolphins. “Many people were promised cheaper health insurance. There is a lot of concern that those promises are being broken. Whether that actually happens or not is another story, but the perception is out there that some might lose insurance and have to look elsewhere or pay more for it,” Corso said. So if you’re working at the mall this holiday season and things don’t seem as busy as they used to, you know whom you’ll be able to blame. Still, if you’re idling your hours at the Gap or Bloomingdale’s, you know how you can pass the time.
